Strict health and safety in schools

Health and safety is stricter than it has ever been in schools, but is it taken too far? Long gone are the years of being able to take conkers in to the playing field and hitting your friend along the knuckles, with health and safety policies there are many restrictions on what children are allowed to do. There have been many incidences of children getting quite seriously hurt at school when playing such games and with staff resources often limited there was a need for tightening down on what activities could take place unsupervised. This may seem a little harsh but if it the facts speak for themselves then there really was a need to change some of the rules in schools. Teachers and dinner staff have a duty of care to each pupil in school time and they do not have the luxury of being able to spend all their time with individual pupils so there is a need for rules and regulations that all schools across the UK need to follow.
