One of the biggest decisions an eighteen year old will make is if they are going to attend university. This may not be an option for all of us due to financial situations, not obtaining the correct grades or having to work in a family business for example. Whatever your situation, if you wish to attend university be fear you can not then always seek advice from a careers advisor as often there are ways round or alternatives that may allow you to do so.

Some people know from an early age that they want to attend university either to follow a chosen career path or to gain life experience living away from home. You should always consider the cost of university, as if you are purely going to have the chance to live away then this may not be a viable option. There are many people who have not attended University and have still found a job that pays well that they enjoy. Some careers will stipulate that you have to obtain a certain qualification to be able to work in a job role such as a doctor or teacher.
There is no right or wrong way, as it has to be a decision made based on that individual students aims and situation.
