Healthy eating policies in schools

With childhood obesity on the rise, there is a clearly a need for schools to take a part in how healthy the food is that is provided to the child. When Jamie Oliver did his School Dinners TV program, it highlighted that school meals can be healthy and enjoyable without blowing the school budget. Many children and parents, do not like that fact that their children cannot have fizzy drinks and crisps etc in their lunch box but the school have a duty of care to that student and has to provide them with the best food options they can. Research has also shown that eating healthy can not only give a child more energy but can aid their learning ability and improve memory. Treats can still have a place out of school but I personally think we should be grateful that children are now been given the option of healthy food presented in a fun and interesting way in schools.
