I am often asked, which is more important when applying for a job, experience or qualifications?
It all depends on what job you are applying for. If you are applying to be a doctor then qualifications are obviously vital and therefore will be mandatory. If you are looking to becoming a computer programmer then the employer may want to see examples of work you have created or set you a challenge to complete, meaning even if you have no recognised qualifications within the industry, your experience may be enough to land you the job. Ideally a candidate will have a balance of both but sometimes it is hard to get the experience you need as none is willing to offer you a position without it. If this is the case you may even consider doing voluntary work to get experience or working on projects in your own time that will count towards experience in the field.
