How are we supposed to choose our careers, be sure we have made the right decision and stick with our jobs for our whole lives? Unfortunately, the answer is that we can’t do these things. There are far too many variables, and you just can’t possibly know how you will feel about a job in 5 years’ time.
What you can do is start by making positive career choices. Find a role that meets your interests as well as your career aims and skills. If you have a genuine interest in it, then you are more likely to enjoy your work.
It isn’t always this simple – you might not enjoy a role forever, or it might not be what you thought it would be. That’s absolutely fine. Move onto a role that is better suited to you and try that out instead. You don’t have to make any final decisions in this lively job market.
